January 1 - 9:00AM Monday New Year's Day Diablo!
Distance: | 39 |

Join us for the traditional New Year's Day Diablo ride. This is a tradition for many Bay area bike clubs, and you will likely be shocked at how many riders you'll see. It is very festive, and a great way to start the year!
Your bike should be in good working order, and you should have everything you need for a winter ride in the country, including flat repair gear, snacks, water, and plenty of warm clothes.
The weather could be anything from sunny and 65 degrees, to overcast and 45 degrees, with a big variation from the bottom of the mountain to the top. Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
Rain cancels, but cold does not.

There are three options so you can go at your own pace and distance so please pick the appropriate option to your level of ability, we want to make sure you enjoy the day. This is a real fun loop with spectacular views! From Sausalito you have a small climb over Camino Alto before you head out and around the Tiburon Peninsula. This ride is recommended for the intermediate rider or for those who don't feel like the more strenuous third option.

January 20 - 9:45AM Saturday Social A Ride: Treasure Island to Assemble
Distance: | 40 |
Pace: | A | |
Terrain: | 2 | |
Come ride our very own “bridge to nowhere” by taking the Alex Zuckerman Path up the new section of the Bay Bridge to Yerba Buena and Treasure Island. There still isn’t a lot going on at TI but we will be able to stop for coffee and a snack at Aracely Cafe. We’ll take in the interesting views of both San Francisco and Berkeley from TI before we return back to Emeryville to head north up the Bay Trail to the Rosie the Riveter Museum and the old Ford plant in Richmond where we will take in a sublime lunch at Assemble. Never eaten at Assemble? You’re in for a treat—their fish & chips or chicken pot pie are worthy! And if those don’t appeal to you (they should), there are many other delicious choices.
Does 40 miles seem too long for you Social A riders? Keep in mind that the only “hills” on this ride are the gradual climb to Yerba Buena, the ride up from TI on the return, and the lump at Golden Gate Fields. Otherwise it’s a flat and has beautiful scenery to boot.
We'll meet at MacArthur BART and return there.
If there is rain, the ride will be postponed to Sunday, January 28.

January 27 - 6:30PM Saturday Ride Leaders Appreciation Dinner at Henry's Hunan Restaurant
Distance: | 0 |
Pace: | A | |
Terrain: | 1 | |
This is the club’s annual dinner to thank and honor 2017 ride leaders because without rides our club would be, well, just a website! So please join us to honor those who have contributed so much to our mutual enjoyment of cycling in 2017—all club members, friends, and family are welcome to attend.
This year we are returning to Henry’s Hunan Restaurant in the Outer Mission. We have reserved a private banquet room and have arranged a diverse menu that includes vegan and gluten-free choices. Although the restaurant specializes in Hunan style cuisine, i.e. spicy, there will be a few non-spicy items as well. The cost is a flat $21 per person (non-2017 ride leaders only) and includes everything except the beverages of your choice.
Please RSVP to Tony no later than Wednesday, January 24, 2018 so that we can give a firm number to the restaurant. If you have a PayPal account, please make your payment to the club's PayPal account, http://paypal.me/dssf/21 no later than Wednesday, January 24. If you do not have a PayPal account, please contact Tony for alternate payment arrangements.

January 27 - 9:30AM Saturday Four Bears with a Happy Pig
Distance: | 34 |
Pace: | B | |
Terrain: | 4 | |
The Four Bears? We're doing the Three Bears in reverse--Papa, Baby, Mama--and then heading up Pig Farm and up Reliez Valley before dropping down to Lafayette. But then it's up Deer Hill and up the front side of Happy Valley before doing Papa Bear again. That's a lot of climbing compressed into 34 miles. Ouch. But Tony is completely detrained so we're taking it at a B-pace. After the ride it's lunch at Geppetto's in Orinda Village.
Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Orinda BART for a 9:45 a.m. departure.
Please RSVP.
