Out by the Bay
| Distance: | 51 |
| Pace: | C | |
| Terrain: | 1 | |
Something different - this route takes is down the bay from San Francisco to Menlo Park, across the Dumbarton Bridge, and then out into the middle of the bay on the sublimely beautiful Shoreline trail. We end up at Union City BART.
East Bay and South Bay riders - drive to Union City BART, park there, and take the 7:59 train to 24th and Mission.
City riders can meet at Ritual, then take BART back home after the ride.
Meet time: 9:00 at Ritual Roasters
Ride out time: 9:15
Map: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1177550. We will provide route cue sheets at the ride start.
Total elevation: Approximately 700
Meals: We will probably finish up around lunch time, so a meal in Union City is an option. Please bring food/bars/supplements with you. Water is available around mile 19.
Sweeps? Yes, but since this is a C level ride, you should be able to maintain a pace of 15-20 MPH on flat roads.
Bail-out options: Bailing to Caltrain on the Peninsula is an option for the first part of the ride. Once we start across the Dumbarton, no more bailout possibilities.
Is this a "no rider left behind" ride? Yes
Special treat: There is approximately 4 miles of dirt roads after we get off the Dumbarton Bridge. These are hard-packed and easily handled on road bikes with skinny tires. We will slow down a little on the dirt but no special skills are required to ride this.
(RESCHEDULED FROM 5/28 DUE TO DUMBARTON BRIDGE CLOSURE.)

Join the Den Daddy on this “noodle ride” from Jack London Square, Oakland, to Richmond along the fascinating East Shore of San Francisco Bay. We’ll then continue on the Bay Trail to Richmond passing by the Pt. Isabel Dog Park, the former Kaiser Liberty Shipyards with monuments to Rosie the Riveter and the Ford Motor Company plant where thousand of tanks were built for World War II. We’ll end in quaint Point Richmond for coffee before biking the last couple of miles to the Richmond BART station for your return to where ever, or you can ride back. Come early and grab some fruit at the fabulous Jack London Square Farmer’s Market.
This is a mostly flat (two short hills), no-drop ride, a fun sociological experience. Sunday is the day when there is no truck traffic at the Port of Oakland. Hammer Heads are welcome, but will be on their own (maps provided).

DBD2 get-acquainted ride
| Distance: | 32 |
| Pace: | B | |
| Terrain: | 3 | |
Double Bay Double 2 is coming up in just three short months, so let's have a pre-season get-acquainted ride. You don't have to be a registered DBD2 rider to participate; ALCers, Seismic veterans, DSSFers, and everyone else is invited. (What a great way to reconnect with your ALC11 friends!) Bring your questions about DBD2, and I'll do my best to answer them ... and then go home and register at doublebaydouble.org.
Our route today is not very long, but it's got a few hills -- none of them stupidly steep or long, but perhaps a couple that might be new to you. From our starting point in downtown Mountain View, we'll head into Los Altos Hills and check out the backroads for a few miles before going to Menlo Park for our rest stop and a counterclockwise trip around the Portola loop. After passing through the Arastradero nature preserve, we'll head back into Palo Alto where we'll do one last climb before our easy return to Mountain View.
Total climbing for this ride is about 2,000 feet. Find out more, and see maps and elevation charts at ridewithchris.org.

POSTPONED--30th Anniversary Ride: Sonoma-Napa Ridge
| Distance: | 48 |

[LAST MINUTE NEWS! Unfortunately due to a bad back I'm canceling the 30th Anniversary Ride scheduled for tomorrow (6/30) and will reschedule it for a future month.]
This is our sixth ride of rides from the early days of Different Spokes. To my knowledge this ride was led only once during the first five years of the club’s existence, and Michael John, the club’s second President, was the ride leader. This ride starts in downtown Santa Rosa and takes Mark West Springs and Franz Valley Road over the ridge to Calistoga for lunch at the Palisades Deli. Once we leave Santa Rosa we are in for a delightful semi-rural cycling experience. After lunch we'll return via Kortum Canyon to Petrified Forest Road back to Santa Rosa.
We'll meet at Peets in downtown Santa Rosa. Parking should be available in the Santa Rosa Plaza Shopping Center two blocks west of Peets. The Shopping Center is immediately at the 3rd Street Exit of Highway 101.
