Late changes. We are looking at two rides now. Both will start at the AIDS Memorial Grove in Golden Gate Park, and both will follow the RideWithGPS above.
Ride #1: meetup at 9:00, ride out at 9:30. We'll attend the Red Ribbon ceremony, and then ride out with the riders, but cut off to climb Hawk Hill. Chris Chiang will lead this ride
Ride #2: meetup at AIDS Memorial Grove after the Red Ribbon ride completes and then head out to do Hawk Hill. Stephen Shirreffs will lead this ride. If you plan to do this ride (and the Red Ribbon ride), please check in with him at the ceremony at 9 am.
Hawk Hill is one of the San Francisco epic rides and it is just over the bridge. Once you have this ride under your belt, you can pull it off anytime in a couple of early hours, put a charge into your legs, and still have the rest of the day free.
This time we are doing a double Hawk Hill, starting with a nice easy ride around the Bay to the Bridge. Then climb to the top with its panoramic views. The descent on the other side is truly steep; if you have never done it before, take your time, and be sure to catch a few glimpses of the incredible scenery. After that, we'll climb Bunker Hill to the big gun. Then it is a climb up McCullough Road ... I like to call that climb my "mean old uncle" lol. At the roundabout, we continue up to conquer Hawk Hill one last time.
We have two choices for a culminating coffee together and we can decide on the day.
Bring snack and water.
