Come join the club for a weekend escape to the beautiful and scenic Monterey Bay Area, just two hours south! We have rented a cozy house in Seaside for the weekend that can accommodate about 12 people. Come down on Friday afternoon or evening when we’ll have an informal dinner gathering for those who can make it.
On Saturday we’ll do a 53-mile loop into the Salinas Valley that climbs the hills up to Laguna Seca and over to Carmel Valley and back to Monterey. There is also an eight-mile extension for those wanting more climbing. An alternate flatter and shorter 28-mile route heads north up the Monterey Bay Trail to Castroville with an optional loop to Moss Landing and back. On Sunday we’ll do the venerable 17-Mile Drive to Carmel-By-The-Sea before heading to Point Lobos and back, a total of about 43 miles. There is an option to skip Pt. Lobos and shorten the loop by seven miles. There are options to do other routes if people are interested. Saturday evening we will do a group dinner at the house.
The estimated cost of the weekend including food (Saturday breakfast & dinner, Sunday breakfast) is $240 for members and $260 for non-members of which $20 is towards a DSSF annual membership, if you reserve by May 28, 2019. Afterwards it is $260 for members and $280 for non-members (with $20 towards a DSSF membership).
