Pleasant Hill BART, Contra Costa Centre, CA
Meet in front of the fare gates.
Ride Code: 39-B-4
You know the routine: set aside sandbagging and excuses, dress warmly, ride up Mt. Diablo with your awesome fellow Spokers to start the new year correctly.
We start at Pleasant Hill BART and take the Iron Horse and Contra Costa Canal Trails before taking back streets to North Gate Road where the ascent starts in earnest.. We’ll head up and regather at the ranger station at the Junction. Then it’s four miles to the summit where we’ll regather, do the selfie and social media thing before doing a SAFE descent on South Gate to Danville for lunch. After lunch we’ll roll easily north on Danville Blvd. to Walnut Creek BART. If you don’t want to go to the summit, you can 1,700 feet of vertical by descending at the Junction.
Ride Code: 26-A/B-3
Come enjoy a mixed surface ride to Rodeo Beach! We’ll meet at Jane Warner Plaza (outside Twin Peaks Bar), cruise out the Wiggle to the Panhandle, Presidio (via Arguello), the GG Bridge, and Conzelman Road, catching dirt where we can. From the roundabout we’ll descend the Julian trail, catch Bunker Road up to the Bunker/McCullough intersection. We‘ll cruise down Rodeo Valley Trail and on out to Rodeo Beach. If you prefer to ride pavement on this ride, that‘s fine! You can take paved roads on almost the same route, and beat all of us dirty dirt riders. We’ll pause for picnicking at the beach. BYO nourishment. If you want to share with David and me, make it vegan. I plan to raid our pantry of weird snack food and dump it in a pannier. For sure there will be hot chocolate. There will be options for extra climbing and miles if you desire. Easy Peasy!
Peets Coffee in the Castro (16th and Market Streets)
This is the official monthly club ride for all members (guests are always welcome). The ride offers different distance and level options where once a month all DSSF club members can get out, ride and socialize with the club. The ride starts from Peet‘s in the Castro. There are three options so you can go at your own pace and distance so please pick the appropriate option to your level of ability, we want to make sure you enjoy the day. The rides split and regroup in Tiburon where we have lunch together as a group. This ride is usually on the second Saturday of each month.
Mikes Bikes Sausalito
meet outside the main (south) entrance
Ride Code: 24-A-3
Join us for a ‘kinder, gentler‘ Tiburon loop! Starting and ending at Mike‘s Bikes at the south end of the Mill Valley-Sausalito Path instead of in SF cuts the mileage of the Jersey Ride in half to just 24 miles. This shortened route keeps the best part--Paradise Drive and Tiburon--and ditches the moshpit on the Golden Gate Bridge and the slog up Alexander, which is always into a headwind. Yes, you can eat dessert first!
Ride Code: 30-B-3
Shake off the winter doldrums with an easy ride. It‘s Bicycle Sunday on Cañada Road so we‘ll start at the Highway 92 end and roll through Woodside to Portola Valley and back.
Ride Code: 35-B-4
Another sunny, dry Sunday beckons us to climb up Veeder and scream down Oakville Grade into the Napa Valley. Lunch in Yountville and then back to Buttercream Bakery in Napa!
